GW2 End of Dragons: Soo-Won

Soo-Won from GW2's "End of Dragons" expansion. The elder dragon of the deep, mother of the elder dragon pantheon, and essentially the primary deity to the Canthan nation.

I was excited to get to work on both Kuunavang and Soo-Won for this expansion. It was a lot of fun getting to do serpentine dragons on fresh new rigs and in the new Canthan setting.
Lots of varied reference in Soo-Won. Various fishes for the scales and fins; koi, betta fish, fancy goldfish, arapaima, etc.
Salamanders, salmon, eels, frilled sharks, baleen whales, coral, feather duster worms, etc for various details here and there. Had a lot of fun working with the animation and techart teams on both her and Kuunavang to develop the iridescent material look to the scales and figure out how these snakey guys should look as they swim through the skies.

Soo-Won is intended to be elegant, wise, ancient and a bit worn around the edges from her vast amount of time in existence. She was originally going to be a lot more pale and ghostly but lookdev ended up skewing her more colorful over time. Check out Zhengyi Wang's work for her early concepts.
